I keep falling off the planet, it seems – I know my posts tend to revolve around DragonCon, but I am actively working on something for 2026. I’m learning a lot of new skills, too. Soldering, working with lighting/fiber optics, rigging up mini smoke machines, resin casting, you name it. Also, in my defense, work has been stressful and super busy as of late. That on top of Rodeo winding down and family obligations, whew… I’m tired. But I’m still here, and I’m still crafting. I need to get back to it, too.
First up, I’ve been working on my big costume for DragonCon. A lot of time was spent between September and January acquiring fabrics. I’ve found screen-accurate fabrics for a couple of the items, and they were stupidly expensive (I cry…ask to see my spreadsheet for it sometime). That and I had to have one of them shipped over from the UK, so that was a fun bucket of nerves.
That being said, the big costume is from Agatha All Along. It’s Agatha’s final outfit in the show, and if you don’t want spoilers, well… look away. I won’t mention why the costume looks the way it does, but I will show a photo or two.
Progress on it has slowed, but I plan to get back on it in May. I am going to fiber+fabric craft festival (put on by h+h) in late April, and then to h+h itself in early May, so work will resume after that. Btw, I’m stoked for this public show because it’s the first time h+h has ever done it, and maybe it’ll give them some idea to maybe host a fall edition in Houston in addition to their h+h fall show this Sept/Oct!
Short and sweet, but there it is. You can see my instagram if you want to see more recent updates, but here are some reference photos, and then progress photos of the costume I’m working on.
